Customers with networks of Windows PCs already using another Antivirus product are often reluctant to change AV vendor.
There are several primary reasons for this such as:
- Time, effort and resource required to complete the migration.
– Large numbers of PCs, spread across multiple sites and occasionally large geographical areas.
– The need to visit every machine to ensure the process has completed successfully.
- Cost of change.
– Extra resource may be required to complete the migration.
– Costs of paying for third parties to visit each machine.
The Foursys Antivirus Removal Service is designed to help system administrators remove their current Antivirus solution without the need to visit every PC. This service has been designed to remove Vendor’s Antivirus products quickly, silently (if desired) and with as little disruption to the end users as possible. In most cases the end user never knows their computer system has had its existing AV client removed and has been updated with a new Antivirus solution.
Foursys have a range of utilities that we can customise to suit your company’s removal requirements and will advise on best practice deployment guides to manage your Antivirus migration.
The Foursys AV Removal Service has been developed over the last 4 years with proven success. In most cases Foursys will initiate our Antivirus Removal Utilities and achieve success rates of around 95% across large and complex networks.
Projects completed successfully by Foursys Sales Engineers, typically within a matter of days, include:
- Converting 4000 PCs at 40 sites from Symantec Norton to Sophos for a Local Authority
- Converting 1500 PCs at 100 sites from NAI McAfee to Sophos for an NHS Primary Care Trust
Technical Requirements:
The Removal Service utilities are designed to run against Windows based PCs (Windows 2000 or later) and effectively call a remote Add/Remove function from the Windows control panel.
The solution is typically executed at the install time of a new Anti-virus solution, but can be called via Active Directory, remotely executed or via Microsoft SMS. Other deployment options are available. Where applicable the product can be used to remove other applications if needed.
Windows services/features that should be running when using the Foursys Removal Service include:
- Server Service
- Remote Registry
- Task Scheduler.
- Access to administrative shares on Windows PCs.
(It may be possible to utilise this service without the above Windows features running, but please contact Foursys to discuss this further).
Evaluate the Foursys Removal Service
Foursys typically provide the Removal System as a service to ensure we can hit our 95% plus success rate. However customers may wish to try our removal utilities to see if they function within their own environments. Hence Foursys can offer limited timed trials of our utilities to see if the service would deliver the desired results.
